Harvest 2016 at Douloufakis Vineyards

Harvest 2016 at Douloufakis Vineyards

This year the weather was very helpful for the vine’s cultivation. We had a relatively cool summer so far. Breezy north winds during July kept the temperature in low levels. Therefore grapes have reached a good level of ripeness and the must is expected to be of very good quality.

As time of harvest is probably the most important and challenging decision for the wine producers, we continuously check the sugar levels, acidity and phenolic maturity of grapes.

This year ‘s harvest began on August 4th, earlier than any other year. First were Chardonnay and White Muscat (of Spina).

Next will follow Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, Sauvignon Blanc and Liatiko. Depending on the degree of maturity, we will continue with Vidiano, Vilana, Kotsifali, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. This year's harvest is expected to be completed by Mandilari.
