This year is an excellent one due to the mild temperatures we have experienced during the summer.
The cool summer evenings and the continuous northern breezes that were blowing in Crete have helped to make the perfect grape maturation.
The grape harvesting started early this year, commencing on the first Monday in August (5th) with the Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc varieties. Then from the 10th to the 16th we harvested Liatiko,White Muscat and Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, then as in every other year a quantity of Liatiko and Malvasia grapes were left to dry in the hot August sun. This process is simply called "sun-drying" and it produces a naturally sweet wine.
After the feast of the Virgin Mary (on August the 15th) we continued the harvesting with Kotsifali and Syrah. On August the 22nd -24th we harvested an early quantity of Vidiano grapes, the remaining ones harvested September 11th -14th.
Our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were harvested August 27th -31st, followed by Vilana from September 1st -10th and finally our harvest ended with the collection of Mandilari.
This years wines are now in the tanks and they are expected to be full-bodied with a rich variety of aromas.
